I photographed this skyscraper scene during a journey with my family to Hong Kong and China in 2010. This scene is from the north shore of Hong Kong Island across Victoria Harbour. One of the most fascinating things about Hong Kong is the proximity of high-density living with wild, open spaces. The urban areas are packed with buildings and people, hugging the coast lines, and yet they are interspersed with a beautiful mosaic of islands, rocky shores, mountains and jungle.

Another interesting juxtaposition is the mix of Eastern and Western cultures. Hong Kong was under British rule until recent years, and therefore many of the Western cultural influences remain.

As part of my mindful meditation practice, I created a modern art painting from the photo, lightly layering and massaging abstract color over color until the piece was complete. I signed with love in the lower left corner. :) Now I offer this art for sale to so others can take a virtual journey, daydreaming of a time or place beyond every day reach to “get away” from daily stress and pressures. In the workplace, especially, fine art from modern artists has been shown to reduce stress, increase creativity and productivity, enhance morale, broaden appreciation of diversity, and encourage open communication. Some of the most successful businesses around the world adorn walls of common areas and employee spaces with artwork and paintings from contemporary artists.
